Tip of the Week #7: Focus on the eyes

What makes a good portrait? More than anything else, it is the eyes of the subject. With a portrait, you want to help the viewer connect with the subject. Eye contact is what helps make this happen in a portrait. Make sure the eyes are in focus and have your subject look at the camera, not you or elsewhere, away from the camera.
